Obituary for Arthur Valdez III

Arthur L. Valdez III, age 32, passed away on January 1, 2018. Arthur was born in Mesilla, NM on Aug.27,1985 to Madeline G. Clayshulte and Arthur L. Valdez II.

Arthur was a unique, loving person and an advocate for the less fortunate. He valued knowledge and learning and was largely self-taught. He read the dictionary and Beowulf for fun. Arthur constantly pursued learning new things. He excelled in critical thinking, chemistry and logic. He did not suffer fools lightly. Arthur enjoyed discussing politics, religion, philosophy, current events and the state of the world. He enjoyed sharing new knowledge with others. He loved his family and friends, his Yamaha motorcycle, his pet bearded dragon Lo-Tan, music, animals, children, Mexican shrimp cocktails, Asian food, smoking and Crown Royal. He had a sharp wit and appreciated satire and irony. Arthur had recently been a caretaker for his father and grandmother.

Arthur is survived by his Mother, Father, Sister, Amelia M. Valdez Foe, Brother-in-law, Matthew Foe, Grandmother, Carmen F. Valdez, and Uncles Phillip Valdez, David Spradley and Marshall Clayshulte. He was proceeded in death by grandparents Arthur L. Valdez Sr., John K. Clayshulte Sr., and Jeanne S. Clayshulte.

Visitation with family and friends will be held from 12 pm to 1 pm, Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018 at Getz Funeral Home with funeral services immediately following at 1 pm, Rev. Patrick Tebbano will be officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
